The property
A terraced house in Birkenhead bought by an investor planning to refurbish it and let it out. It had been stripped back: the kitchen was gutted to the walls, the floors were bare boards and screed, the stairs had lost their covering and the rooms were full of old fittings and waste.
Scope of works
- Clearance of the property and removal of waste
- New kitchen: white gloss handleless units, marble-effect worktops and upstands, built-in oven, induction hob, extractor and tiled floor
- New bathroom: marble-effect porcelain tiling, wall-hung WC, vessel basin on a floating shelf, bath with rainfall shower and screen, brushed brass fittings and heated towel rail
- Herringbone flooring through the hallway, lounge and dining room
- New oak internal doors
- Carpets in the bedrooms and landing, plus a stair runner
- Recessed downlights and new light fittings
- Making good, decoration throughout and painted panelling
- Rear yard: porcelain stepping slabs, white gravel, artificial grass and painted walls
The result
A bright, neutral home with durable finishes that suit a rental property: hard-wearing flooring downstairs, an easy-clean kitchen and bathroom, and a low-maintenance yard. The property was handed back ready to let.
